August 1st: Cooper’s Excursion Tips for the Swiss National Day
August 1st, 2020 will be a special national holiday. Most of the official celebrations are cancelled due to the Corona pandemic. But August 1st is more than fireworks and lanterns: Coopers has the best tips for an eventful Swiss National Day.
When Switzerland is celebrating in August, a meal with family and friends is just as much a part of it as the red and white Swiss ensigns. Of course, the Cervelat (traditional swiss sausage) and the 1st August Walking Tour are a must. To enjoy it, it does not always have to be your own garden or balcony. Here are our tips:
Hiking and bathing: Visit the most beautiful viewpoints of the region on August 1st, or one of the Swiss national icons (Matterhorn, Aletsch Glacier, Jungfraujoch, Rhine Falls) or swim in the beautiful lakes, rivers and "badis".
In the city: Discover one of the most beautiful Swiss cities, enjoy a picnic in the park with refreshing iced tea or get cultural inspiration from a great museum exhibition.
And if it's still fun in the garden: Gardening with the kids in the vegetable patch. Afterwards, you've earned a garden party and can round off the evening culinarily with a barbecue with your loved ones.
Whether it's a lavish barbecue, a cosy family brunch or a great outing, the Coopers team wishes you a wonderful national holiday!
