The Biospecimen Specialist will manage the end to end biorepository activities to fulfill our customer’s specimen request in compliance with local regulatory requirements, quality, business, and industry best practices/standards.

Location: Rotkreuz

Duration: 12 months

 

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Life Sciences paired with practical experience handling biological specimens and using validated tools like LIMS. Exceptional attention to detail is critical for maintaining strict biospecimen traceability, data accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Driven and highly organized, this candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment while managing end-to-end sample acquisition and project timelines. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform biological material processing, registration, shipment, returns, verification activities, retrievals, and inventory searches in a validated environment.

  • Take accountability for end-to-end project management and biorepository management activities to fulfill customer specimen requests.  

  • Collaborate with relevant permitting agencies, import/export compliance, and local Safety and Biorepository Teams to comply with permit requirements.

  • Maintains compliance with BAM processes, including but not limited to the collection and maintenance of relevant documentation, receipt and review of sample data to secure an accurate and complete sample and data set.

  • Assumes responsibility for accuracy, quality, and timeliness of work within supported projects and responding appropriately to changing priorities.

  • Effectively interface with internal and external stakeholders to establish timelines and meet defined project goals.

  • Maintain information in a validated laboratory information management system compliant with GxP principles and standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Life science Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 1-3 years relevant experience in sample acquisition, data management, biobanking 

  • Hepatitis vaccination

  • Able to lift 10 kg - 15 kg

  • Experience in Handling biological specimens; willingness to work with potentially infectious biological material.

  • IT skills: Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Google Suite, Experience with LIMS or other validated systems
