Operational Risk Manager / Specialist

m/f/d, Zürich

For our client from the insurance industry in Zurich, we are looking for an experienced, motivated and open-minded Operational Risk Manager / Specialist.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal policies, standards, procedures, and other governance-related documents

  • Design and implement non-financial risk management processes aligned with internal frameworks and regulatory requirements

  • Support the definition and ongoing update of the Group risk appetite and tolerance statements

  • Coordinate and execute risk assessments (e.g., TRP, SAOR) in collaboration with Group Technology and Operations, and follow up on mitigation actions

  • Review and challenge control deficiencies, remediation measures, and root cause analyses of operational risk events

  • Conduct deep-dive reviews of risk and control topics and support crisis management and operational resilience activities

  • Engage with Group functions and Business Units to simplify and enhance risk management and internal control practices

  • Provide guidance and training on non-financial risk topics, ensuring tools and methodologies remain fit for purpose

  • Contribute to ORSA-related work, including scenario selection and strategic risk assessments

  • Support the preparation of risk reports, including quarterly Group risk reports and inputs for the Group Recovery Plan

Your Profile:

  • University degree in Risk Management, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent professional qualifications also considered

  • Solid experience in internal controls, risk management, compliance, and audit - within the insurance sector

  • Familiarity with Third-Party Risk, Data Management, or Business Resilience is a plus

  • Strong knowledge of operational risk management principles, methodologies, regulatory requirements, and risk mitigation strategies

  • Proactive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented mindset

  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on execution and timely delivery and the ability to handle multiple priorities under tight deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills in English, verbal and written
