Senior Linux Software Engineer

Background:

The perfect candidate is a seasoned Senior Linux Software Engineer with a Master's degree in Computer Science and over five years of experience developing customized Linux distributions, specifically with Debian/Ubuntu. They must also have extensive front-end development experience with React or Angular. This individual is a quick-learning team player with a "can-do" attitude, possessing a deep understanding of software building, testing, and packaging, and is able to communicate complex technical information in advanced English.

• Start Date ASAP
• End Date 1 year with high chance of extension
• Workload 80%- 100%
• Workplace Rotkreuz (Home office up to 50%)

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Contribute to Medical Instrument / Software Development Projects with technical knowhow
• Development and maintenance of in-house linux distribution and open source tools
• Linux Software and Hardware troubleshooting, debugging and root-cause analysis
• Work on developing our hardware test farm and the debian build tool (Molior)

Your Profile:

• Master in SW Engineering or other degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience (min. 3 years)
• More than 5 years of experience as a Senior Linux Software Engineer 
• 5+ years experience in developing customized Linux distributions
• Strong Development experience in React/Angular (5+ years) 
• Proven experience with Linux systems (Debian/Ubuntu) (5 years)
• Strong knowledge in Operating Systems and Software building, testing, packaging 
• Team player with a “can do” attitude, quick learner, enjoying problem solving, ability to work independently
• English: advanced, ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

• Experience in Kubernetes, Python
• Debian package building
• Experience in Embedded Software, Hardware Drivers, ARM Platform, hardware / software integration
